Her father, Steve Taylor, played college football at the University of Tennessee, while her mother, Suzette Taylor, was a college volleyball player.
Maria Taylor attended Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia, where she excelled in various sports. She was a talented volleyball player and led her team to win the state championship in 2004. She was also a track and field athlete and held the state record in the triple jump.
After graduating from high school, Maria Taylor received a full scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Georgia in Athens.
